I guess nowadays it’s “UNC” huh?
But yeah. Judging by people I know and co workers , no one will be using search in a couple years. Gonna be a bad time.
Also I’m curious how many folks on this instance are even under 35! They may not have ever experienced non corporate internet …

Isn’t law something that can be done exclusively by AI? The law is literally a book of rules that are very clear, especially for a computer.
The law is not clear it’s why we have courts, juries, appeals, common law, etc.
Very clear?
Wisconsin law explicitly allows 16-18 year olds to carry rifles and shotguns, without supervision, so long as they aren’t violating hunting laws. Want to know the easiest way not to violate a hunting law? Don’t hunt! If you aren’t hunting, you aren’t violating a hunting law and can carry a rifle at 16.
Why does this matter? This is why Kyle Rittenhouse is not in prison for carrying a rifle to a protest. The judge ruled that 17-year-old Rittenhouse could only be charged for carrying that rifle if he were using it to poach game. When he dropped the underage weapon charge, everything else Rittenhouse did in Kenosha became legal.
Very clear? No. It’s complete horseshit, derived from convoluted legislative revision and does not actually reflect the intent of any of the writers. But it is the law.
Don’t get me started on presidential term limits or birthright citizenship.
Every appellate court reversal; every supreme court decision is the direct result of unclear law.
Application of the law is subjective. A lawyer will know when to argue against a law, argue against the interpretation of a law, and when to argue against the evidence that a law was broken.
So I don’t think AI is going to replace lawyers, in the same way that AI should never replace a jury of peers, or a judge. However, I do think that AI will (technologically at least) be a great tool to help the common man understand the law and inform them before they get a lawyer involved. It will also be extremely useful for lawyers and paralegals to research previous cases.
You’re exactly right.
I look forward to abusing this brave new web, by visiting WebLawMD, so that I can go into hiding for all of my perceived crimes, while i wait to die of every self-diagnosed disease.
Oof, I have a feeling American law is a lot less specific and detailed than German law. I may also be completely wrong. You’d think the written law is what it is. I mean, why have laws when they’re not clear?
I don’t think the rules are very clear
