    the thing i see wrong with this is that it’s fundamentally not helping anyone.

    you’d need coordinated striking or disruption at the very least.

      I replied to another comment with similar stuff but, whether or not this helped anyone we can never truly know.

      It did not help the people in the center that day presumably because they were not released. Who knows if they were aware of what was happening outside and how they would have or did feel about it happening.

      At the very least, this raised awareness and showed that people are willing to speak out publicly against fascism regardless that the government is threatening any and all who speak or act against them.

        of course you can truly know, what are you talking about. if you have demands that are met (eg release the prisoners) you succeeded in helping. if they aren’t you didn’t.

        this is the crux of the issue and what the people criticizing these protests usually mean. without a clear goal and a clear way to pressure them to cave, all you are doing is waste potential and tire people out on toothless protests.

        the people not already hopelessly brainwashed by fascism already have “awareness”. the purpose of banding together now is not to show you can because you already did that. it’s to use that leverage to score concessions from the regime.
