In case anyone isn’t aware, there’s a big project to remaster/restore Reboot at the highest quality possible. They have multiple master tape copies for every episode, and for a ton of promo material, ads, etc. Huge, technically deep, and amazing project. The first few episodes are already out on youtube, but they also just released a documentary about the whole process.

I’d rather have a fiveskin. Imagine how much stuff you could carry at the nudist beach!

I haven’t done much programming that makes use of the win32 types, but just from tech support and sysadmin type stuff I can confirm that DWORDs are still 32 bits. See them a lot in the Registry.

Given Window’s (sometimes questionable) attempts to maintain backwards compatibility, and the fact that a lot of the OS functionality and sysadmin tools are, at best, kludge built up in layers over decades on top of the old tools, I would strongly suspect that the win32 types are still the exact same size-wise despite the now 64-bit underlying architecture.

Like many of us have been saying for years, the point of putting rules/laws/guardrails in place is for the most vulnerable among us.

There seems to be an attitude trying to normalize use of these tools “as long as you double check them”, but that requires you to use them only for things within or very near your areas of expertise. The general approach to things like this socially can’t just be “git gud scrub”.
