For those who don’t know, the original Hagia Sophia was one of the most impressive construction speed-run of all time. Completed in just under 6 years with 4th 6th century tech. They botched it a bit so the roof fell but still very impressive.
Edit: 6th century tech, first church was made in 4th century, current structure with the speed run was started in 532 and finished in 537.
They sent money to DHH, creator of Ruby and gave some lip service to his Omarchy OS. They were defending it with some big tent statements which didn’t go super well with the ones that had a bad opinion of him. DHH has great replacement theory views which is concerning and blogs about it.
Their Arch based Hyprland stuff was overblown though since it was just one weird mod and didn’t reflect the project’s leadership opinions.

Yeah, it sounds like a good idea, maybe it’ll be implemented as a VAT on LLMs. There’s also the thing that AI subscriptions are subsidised up to 90% currently so when the bubble pops workers become more competitive when you’re paying 2k USD per month instead of 200. Not to mention that LLMs themselves are subsidised by electrical grid upgrades and tax exemptions to attract data centers.
Pigouvian tax is not used enough IMO. LLMs are having a negative effect on the economy so the negative effect should be taxed highly and tax revenue redistributed. RIP for people in the USA where it just goes to military spending.

Yeah, they would have had a clean run if they had made the dome more curved. It was a bit flat and an earthquake took the dome down and destroyed the altar. Still very impressive and definitely been well maintained.
