Arch in that context is an adjective, an “arch smile” being the example that immediately comes to mind. It’s old English and I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone say it, just read it.

0·6 months agoDirect war with Russia would be far worse for the German population. It is much cheaper to fight a proxy war via Ukraine and try to avoid war themselves.
Also, they are ramping up their own defense capabilities so a lot of this money will presumably flow back to German companies, and therefore German jobs.
