One of the other traders was Virginia independent Mark Moran, who is running for Senate. Kalshi said Moran bet in October that he would announce a political run, and then publicly launched his campaign in January.

In an interview with CNN, Moran said the trades were a stunt so that a “longshot” candidate like himself could draw attention to “illegal gambling” happening on prediction sites.

Yeah I support this guy’s use. Really, it’s the system that is the problem; not the individual politicians. Besides, the President of the USA has done far worse.

I pray this ignites the general strike we’ve been yearning for. I’ll walk around town and see if I spot any folks. I’m looking forward to this!

I hope this period will be the end of folks whining “ughhh why are you so politicalll”. We’ve got just about every mainstream corporation backing fascism and now outright publishing edgelord manifestos.

Just imagining someone groaning “You don’t gotta be political all the time” and then opening up Google to find they put up the “Restore the Sanctity of the White Race” homepage theme FFS.

This and reducing marijuana to Schedule III are two popular policies that Democrats are fucking stupid for passing up. If Democrats ever regain power, I do hope this might motivate the party to fully legalize marijuana, psychedelics, and other low-risk drugs like amphetamines.

Nah I get all that, and I was never one for drama-bait or click-bait slop. I don’t particularly care for trends or social media at all. That last tangent was a little too out of the scope of the original discussion and a bit of a vent. Shutting off the world doesn’t change the world around me; doesn’t change the instability and unpleasantness of it all; though I do it many days anyways.

For the bigger picture, I generally think TikTok and other social media is how racism and misogyny got popular. I’m old enough to remember when it seemed Leftist ideas dominated the internet. That fell, and I attribute much of that to the low-attention atmosphere and the way rage and hatred can remain captivating in that information ecosystem.

Again, this content is not something I subscribe to; but that doesn’t stop them from gaining relevance. So I’m sick of all the constant stress; the stupidity of the masses; the absurdity of this all. “Polycrisis” is a term I recall reading in an article; and that’s what I’m feeling.

Content is whatever. I fully subscribe to “Don’t like it? Find something else”. I just wish the bigger problems in my life and the overall changes in the wider world and internet could be “turned off” like a video or TV channel.

I’m only half-understanding this post. I think I agree with the message. I’m fed up and angry with how draining and uncertain the world is, and the constant click-baiting over minor aspects that seem meaningless to the overall picture (USA perspective) are possibly a part in how things got this bad. Most days I wish I could “cancel my subscription” to the overall scene. Perhaps that exhaustion is why his writing is less than coherent, or why I’m not reading it well.

Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson was the sole dissenter. She said the court was unwisely interfering in the long tradition of states’ regulating the practice of medicine and similar professions.

As usual Jackson is the one reliable voice who sees the bigger picture here. Shame on those two “liberal” justices who come in with the “uhmm actually according to this principle”. None of that Constitutional logic matters as we have seen over the last 15 months. Lives or children and teens will be destroyed by this decision.
