US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Friday once again suggested the international community should show gratitude for President Donald Trump’s illegal war with Iran, which has led to a global oil supply shock and created the potential for food shortages in the coming months.
Speaking with reporters at the Pentagon, Hegseth defended the president’s decision to launch a war of choice with Iran that so far has cost US taxpayers an estimated $60 billion.

The strait was open before.
And Iran was still a petty dictatorship executing civillians, creating millitant groups in neighboring countries, and holding the strait hostage.
To be real clear on this I place human life and aversion to suffering far far far above oil prices. I realize that there are casualties in costs of goods and global diplomacy with the trade stopping, but there are also upsides to lower fossil fuel use.
Those things haven’t changed. Iran is still a petty dictatorship executing civilians. I don’t know what your point is here.
That was my point. That’s literally what I said in the first comment. The problems haven’t changed.
