I guess my parents are nearly boomers but a little too old, they were kids in wwii. But I think they would also advise people to make friends and use such contacts to try get a job. Yes they went though times where you could walk into a store and get a job that day, but they also went through some shitty stuff. Moreover, they’re not idiots and know times change.
You could get a job using contacts but the task is getting a job using the advice boomers give to young people.
“Use you decades of contacts gathered during your career” isn’t really usable advice.
Apply for jobs using AI job application portals on websites and see how long it takes to get a job.
You could burn 3 episodes on just seeing how long it takes to get a callback.
“make good friends” is still good advice.
