This site covers the problems of Substack and, towards the end, offers alternatives.
I haven’t checked them out because I’m busy with other things … Like finding a job and a new place to live.

I downvote too but primarily because I see a lot of questionable content passed off as news. I actually have all their domains (including subdomains) blocked.
I didn’t know about the Nazi bit, that’s good to know too.

Dear mods, I suspect it is OK to post my own substack here. I basically wrote it based on a comment I wrote to someone else on lemmy, and think it is relevant to the community.
If this goes against self promotion rules, either take this down, or tell me ASAP and I will take it down myself.
