It’s where a guy is raising both their hands with big captions “absolute cinema” (the meme is usually used when something funny or engaging is happening)

Interestingly, in my search for interesting rockish and punkish music, I stumbled across an artist called Kino, a Soviet-era Russian band (that sounds really good, you should check it out!). On the Kino-related subreddits, I found edited versions of the meme that replaces the man with Viktor Tsoi, the now deceased singer from Kino (RIP to him, car accident at a young age) and the caption is “absolute KINO”, since the band is named after the Russian word for “cinema”. This alternate Kino variant of the meme has cropped up in a few other places too, funnily enough.

I think it’s mostly a streamer thing. At least the only time I’ve ever seen it is when people put it in the chats of streams.

He said “Abszolút filmszínház” which means “Absolute movie theater”, a deliberate mistranslation of the original meme, which is how it’s used in Hungarian, adding another layer to the joke. Intentional mistranslation of memes is also a thing in other countries like Germany and Turkey.

Something that foreigners also find funny: “Magyar” literally means Hungarian, so yes, the country will have a PM called Peter Hungarian.

I don’t know any Hungarian, but here in Estonia, cinema or movie theater is pretty much an euphemism for drama or just something funny happening and has been for a long time. Common sayings are “siin hakkab kino saama” (there’s going to be cinema here) or “paras kino oli” (that was some cinema), etc. Cinema is generally not used as a countable noun in these cases. If by some miracle I was in a room where JD Vance and Trump got into a fistfight, I would say “it’s about to be cinema here” when the first one raises his fists.
