10 trillion dollars? How the fuck are we gonna cover 50 trillion dollars? Where do you even get 100 trillion dollars from?

This was always a multi $T project, and $1.2T is lowball, but can’t be accused of initially set at $200B. There is 0 chance of 2029 operation. Pretending that is a deadline, would make costs rise astronomically.

Russia and China (and Iran) have hypersonic missiles, and the US does not. Israel/Ukraine are incapable of stopping hypersonic missiles, and have elite US defense systems. Needs hypersonic space based interceptors to deal with hypersonics is simply 2 technology gaps the US must close in absurd timeline.

And that you can double a few times still before everything is said and done and then you have to maintain that bitch

Meanwhile you’re getting in a direction called bankruptcy

It says none of the contractors want to get involved because they don’t think the project will survive into the next administration. Also that the administration held back most of the already appropriated funds, probably holding out for higher kickbacks.

      Definitely sure.

Star Wars was a front to funnel billions to defense contractors anyway.

Pretty sure it is when someone puts a condom just over their tip and then pees. Just a little. Like a little water balloon.

Absolutely no one is surprised that he lied about how much it would cost, or just pulled a number out of his ass with no idea how much it would cost.

Here’s to hoping it never gets off the ground, and the money isn’t spent.

It appears that will be the case according to the article, they held back money for starting it, and the contractors don’t think the project will survive the next administration and are loath to start.

      Probably a dispute about kickbacks.

I assume this is a typo. Maybe 1.2 billion?

1.2 trillion dollars for a building is the entire military budget for a year. You could pay the entire military to make the ballroom out of golden toothpicks and it still wouldn’t cost 1.2 trillion dollars.

Edit: my bad, I was looking up the golden ballroom and this came up I didn’t read because I thought it was a typo lol.

I understand why iron dome for us would cost that much… thanks guys

Not a typo, 1.2 billion wouldn’t buy anything as far as space based missile interception, which is where most of the cost is coming from.

The golden dome is supposed to be a missile “shield” that will protect the entire contiguous US from ballistic missiles. (The name is based on the Israeli iron dome). I promise you that a $1.2 trillion budget is just the start, and it will never work.

You know what we could do with $1.2 Trillion dollars to protect against missiles?

Spend $1.2 Trillion on humanitarian aid to the world removing anyndesire to send missiles in the first place. Oh wait, we were doing that ahit but “USAID is DEI” won out with these fucking morons and was closed.

Not 1 building. A system. Imagine trying to defend every inch of border with missiles. A missle an inch if you will… How much would that cost? Software people. Power food water toilets… The border wall was one thing but lets spend more and with automatic fire piss filled missles over every inch of ground we share with another country and Alaska and let not forget taking over Cuba to put piss missiles there.!

It’s not a typo, a patriot air defence system costs a bit over 1B to produce for one unit.
