I could almost (almost) sympathize with the self-preservation angle of “just following orders”.

America isn’t quite to that point yet, I don’t think. Where it’s “join or die”.

I’d like to think that most people wouldn’t kill or harm another person because their boss told them to, but at the same time, people are only getting more desperate…and it comes down to “either I kill/harm this person, or myself and my kids will be killed/harmed and this person will be killed/harmed by someone else”…I don’t think most people in that situation would stand to support the stranger.

The amount of brainwashing that goes into forming a Nazi/ICE agent in the first place can’t be discounted, either. People join up with ICE because they are fueled by a lifetime of hate, spoon-fed to them by our wonderful billionaire media moguls since birth.

By and large it worked for most of them.

Sure a few at the top got pinched but at the time a functioning Germany was more important to the west so they could face off against the Soviets.

You don’t get a functioning country by purging the entire civil service so lots of Nazis kept their head down and were fine.

Hell some of the scientists came to the US and were the head of the Apollo program.
