given their current leadership I’m expecting them to rename it to copilot like they did everything else
Are they bringing back clippy?
Windows is always going to get more enshittified and worse as time goes on and they force more subscriptions and AI features into it. Linux is just going to get better and better. Which trend line are you looking to hitch your wagon too?

If you don’t use Windows this nonsense is actually super funny. Keep it up Microslop!
Let us give it a name!
Microslop…hmm they’ll name it “Fred” or “Jeeves!” Let’s do it!
Users…hmmm, I’m calling this one “stoopiloid3000!”
It’s a good time to remind people that the current version of O&O ShutUp makes it super easy to delete or disable CoPilot and any files it is storing on your machine.
I made a video recently about some things you can do to improve your privacy as well if you’re stuck using Windows for whatever reason. (And for the TLDW crowd, I put chapters in the video so you don’t necessarily have to watch the whole thing either.)
Guessing the end of year figures were massaged enough. Now time to appease folk with the bare minimum.
I just use Linux.
Its so sad that the Linux kernel devs are pro-AI slop too. Not that they’ll force it on people, but they are in favor of the tech already use it on the kernel.
As much as I hate AI and the people who use it, I gotta say… AI slop and using AI are not the same thing. Demanding that people disclose if they used AI and sign off on it, does not mean that they are pro-AI slop. “They” are also not in favor of using it on the kernel. Thats just something that will happen now.
Like Linus said, the cat is out of the bag. Its not going back in. Making sure that people tell you if they’ve used it and take responsibility for it, is probably the best compromise we can get. The other option is that they don’t tell you that they’ve used it.
Eh?
I feel you’re going to make some weak comparison. Linux won’t be including it in peoples machines. Using for code/building is very different to slurping folks interactions and pushing those centrally…
Its different, but it’s still making use of the fundamentally harmful technology that kills our planet and steals from everyone. Its still helping it grow and prosper. Plus, not that the “open source” ones are any better, but most are proprietary, and that goes against the very nature of being FLOSS.
Don’t worry AI tech is quickly becoming less resource hungry. Now you can run a decent llm on a gaming computer.
The training of that LLM probably took a ton of energy though
I don’t think you understand I’m against generative AI no matter what its running on.
Slopilot 2027
Microwhat? Ahh, you mean Microslop! https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/microslop/

No more Microslop.
Instead, they may be called Microplop.
Microcock says what?
