I’m already at a point where I ask other people for YouTube recommendations, because the site itself sucks so hard at finding the content I want. I can’t trust an AI chatbot to know what other users know, and since one of the criteria I have is “no AI slop” I can’t expect an error-prone machine to faithfully find what I need.

It would be nice if the site used all its personal fingerprinting powers to realize that some users don’t want to watch the same topic they already watched. I like to explore new information, but these algorithms just take what you already saw and assume you want more of the same. Why not fix that, YouTube? You can try to pipeline the same information to us all you want, but some people are going to go out of their way to explore new content and only finding that possible by talking to other humans. If you want us to trust your recommendations, you’re going to need to step up your game - and that doesn’t mean AI searches.
