Linux@programming.dev•Raspberry Pi OS ends open-door policy for sudoEnglish
3·16 hours agoHonestly I try not to use
sudo sufor anything other than making sure certain cronjobs work. And even then sparingly. sudo by itself is usually good enough. Its still wild to me how Windows does auth. I have to fight with it at work all the time. Even run as admin doesnt always work haha.

14·17 hours agoEverything sounds good. It really should be setup and used like any other linux distro.
except asking every 5 minutes. That sounds kinda sucky. Im wondering how
sudo suwould work?Anyways much more info here:

Unfortunately the project is reliant on quite old tech and parts nowadays.

3·2 days agoGive it a shot. The code is a bit piecemeal so feel free to improve upon it. I got a book working with upload and stopped there. Its a “good enough” solution. It goes to the next page and keeps the page when the power is out.
The code could probably need a tuneup. I haven’t done C++ in 10+ years other than some tiny linux kernel patches and that was a bit ago.

41·2 days agoThat looks kinda like my project down to the same board. Crazy. Not sure why hes charging for it, its very simple to program. And heltek comes with a plastic casing/screen to begin with.

It looks familiar butbwith an eink screen rather than the heltek screen that comes with it. Cool little device he made.

3·4 days agoRock solid.
One of the best things about ebook readers is once you get old, you can still read your favorite books!
It would be nice if we had something like friendica but VERY hard to implement.
A small apc has helped my tiny server stay up for the couple of min downtime that occurs yearly.
Excellent sticker.
I kinda want to get another one but im waiting on the open source https://diptyx.dev/
Ill be honest i just read in the light. Or use a small 50c book light. Its a decade old ebook reader. It works and still lasts about a week with a very old battery.
I think i have that model. Fantastic ebook reader if so.

Open EVERYTHING! Nive interview thanks!
