If they had thought…
If they had thought of Ligma for L I’m sure they could have come up with something for B.

5·2 days agoIn Jedi Outcast and Academy having your saber off meant that you were currently chatting or AFK. In good servers you’d get banned for killing someone who had their saber off.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•You can make people happier by taking a small amount from their wallet weekly and then later "gifting" them all the money you took from them... that's what a tax refund is...
2·2 days agoBroadcasting fees in Germany can only be deducted quarterly. I hate that. Take that money at the same rate as I get money or I will get confused. That’s why I set up automatic monthly payment. And they send a quarterly letter reminding me that I owe them a monthly payment.
This quarter they sent a letter informing me that they’d stop sending the quarterly letter and that they have a third of a payment too much in my account. And that I should create automatic payments.
I’m looking forward to their next letter.

Linux@programming.dev•openSUSE Tumbleweed now defaults to systemd-boot on new installs
7·2 days agoYou probably think that systemd-boot is tied in any way to the rest of systemd. It is not. Systemd-boot is just a very simple EFI boot loader that is hosted by the systemd project. It does not require any part of systemd to work. It has no problems booting a distro without any systemd components.

Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL that Wu Zetian, the only female emperor in Chinese history, served as a concubine to Emperor Taizong before later becoming the Empress of his son, Emperor Gaozong.English
4·3 days agoIs that the woman Road to Empress is based on? It’s a pretty funny Chinese drama.
I just googled something. Don’t remember what I ended up on. Probably some blog post combined with rspamd’s website. It depends on your mailserver anyways.
rspamd is used nowadays. Add sieve filtering to automatically move mails with a 7.0 or higher to a spam-folder. Manually move mails there that haven’t been detected and move mails out of the spam folder that have been falsely detected (personally don’t have any false positives with rspamd).
Then set up bayes learning with rspamd, either when mails are moved between folders or every few hours.
She’d love Germany. Those names would be illegal over here.
Then again the law also explicitly states that you can name your kid any name that’s normal for your heritage. I guess that means an American would be able to name their kid Kitchenaid because it aligns with their traditions.

Honestly, that’s what most web API’s are. You are just pushing data around. The “hard” part is that everyone has their own opinions on how it should be formatted.
And of course the minor inconvenience of having to give the user a way to make data entry easy, convenient and consistent.
But deep down it’s all spreadsheets. The faster you can wrap your head around that the easier programming is for you.

Funny@sh.itjust.works•Just feels like further incentive, to be honest
1·27 days agoBefore we had EU-wide free instant money transfers that only worked within some banks. Two guys, who were at one such bank, decided to use it as an instant messenger. So they sent hundreds of messages while transferring just one Cent back and forth.
Until they got a message from a bank teller that they were equally amused by their jokes but should tone down the frequency because every money transfer cost the bank 11 Cents (don’t remember the real number, but it was ridiculously high).

And Axel Voss (you might remember him from when he pushed for Artikel 13) wasn’t even able to voice any concerns he just asked a question which they could easily answer.
tldw: He asked about secondary licenses in games like for music. The answer was that these licenses only apply when selling something. Since this is about preserving games that aren’t being sold anymore those licenses don’t apply.
