With apps like CoMaps you can also search for things like ‘bench’, ‘water’ (or ‘water fountain’/‘water tap’) or ‘toilet’, then ‘View on map’ to see every result nearby. These details are why I love OpenStreetMap. It can be a bit annoying though that you need to know the exact term to search for since most interfaces don’t have some kind of smart interpretation of your search.
In Organic Maps (or CoMaps) it’s easy to add or edit places (nodes) such as small things like trash cans or benches, or bussinesses. This is great to do, adding details helps the community.
But other things are not so easy such as roads and paths. You can always leave a note, so more experienced mappers can make the actual edit. Most of the time they’re limited by (lack of) local knowlegde, so providing that is definitely helpful.
Fyi, with apps like StreetComplete you can add pictures to your comments. This is even more useful for a remote mapper!
