  • I used to teach English in Japan. There was apparently a time long ago when native English teachers were treated very badly in Japan. The companies would pay them a pittance and there are stories that some companies confiscated teacher passports. Very bad stuff.

So one remedy that the Japanese government pursued was to establish a minimum wage for teachers. But it didn’t increase for I think decades, and the amount was, once again, became to live on. I don’t know whether Japan has increased this minimum wage since then.

Minimum wages need to be based on some other value so that they adjust naturally and we don’t have to wait on lawmakers to manually adjust them, even if they could pass manual updates.

One other idea is to have a wealth ceiling. And then base minimum wage off of that. For example, say that the maximum is X and the minimum wage would be X divided by a billion. If Elon musk want to have 20 billion, then minimum wage would be $20/hour. That’s just a quick example and not meant to be indicative of the actual numbers.

  • If you actually empathize with a person who has different beliefs, for example, you’d realize that when somebody takes one religion, and changes it drastically, that the people with the earlier religion would not consider themselves to be worshipping the same god as the later religion.

If Jews really thought Christians were worshipping the same god, they’d become Christians. If Jews or Christians really thought that Muslims were worshipping the same god, they’d all become Muslims. Islam came last, so of course they’d have the most up-to-date religion, right? Why would anybody keep the old ways if they actually thought Muslims worshipped their same god? They wouldn’t. It makes no sense.

Especially because the god in Islam seems quite different to the Christian god. Islam’s religious text instructs the faithful to lie about their religion when it suits their needs, for example. Jesus described himself as the truth. Catholics, for example, believe that Jesus is god. Islam says that Jesus is only a prophet. That is a fundamental difference in who they believe is god.

Their main religious figures couldn’t be more different, either. The Jesus described in the Christian Bible was an educated Jewish holy man. Mohammed was an illiterate pedophile warlord. If a Christian thinks that their god is the same as Allah, then they just haven’t thought about it. That is a belief of Islam, not Christianity.

  • One of the scenes that bothers me the most is where Anakin states that from his perspective, the Jedi are evil, and then gives zero reasons. But it would be trivial to explain himself.

The Jedi are a religious organization that wields great authoritarian political power, often unilaterally, including later as we observed, political assassinations. They’re obsessed with finding people who are chosen at birth and have a policy of rejecting anyone who is too old to be fully indoctrinated.

They’re basically fascists. If you ever eliminated the sith, the next thing you’d want to eliminate are the Jedi.

How much more interesting would it be if they actually presented the Jedi, including their inherent flaws?

  • I had heard this is the story of JD Vance.

When he was young he “thought he was gay”. While he was in college, he met Peter Thiel, a gay billionaire who had come to his campus for some talk or something. When they met, the gay billionaire really took an interest in this man who thought he was gay.

At some point, JD Vance says that he stopped thinking he was gay. Meanwhile, Thiel helped Vance find a job. Actually, several jobs. It turns out that Vance kept getting fired from his jobs, but Thiel kept getting him better jobs every time he got fired. Eventually, Thiel helped JD Vance get into the field of politics, where Vance has been in his pocket to this very day.

Now, from my perspective, it’s difficult to explain why a businessman would keep finding better jobs for a person who keeps failing at the jobs unless there is something outside of the job that makes it worth it. So, it seems very likely that JD Vance gives world-class blowjobs, and that he is just generally a failure at everything non-sexual.
