Have you seen Akkadian? Shits got like 300 letters. Latin was definitely the upgrade.

51·2 days agoThe media is pushing that as a solid theory and it’s not crazy. What’s bad for openai is good for anthropic / etc, but there are a lot of places they could be putting that money that would benefit them more directly.

Opensource@programming.dev•Anthropic joins the Blender Development Fund as Corporate PatronEnglish
42·2 days agoYou’d think so, but from what I’ve personally heard at least… Anthropic seems to mostly be doing right by the community with their contributions like this. I could be falling for the propaganda, but guys are even backing groups pushing for stronger AI guardrails and oversight.
They’re not as expensive as you’d think anymore. Yeah, real good one is a few grand, but you get into the mid 3 digit range and you can still get a pretty alright one.

9·4 days agoIt feels real weird to think of a republican controlled government nationalizing a business, feels like not doing that is one of their core tenets. Hypocrisy is not rare obviously, but it would be interesting.
Either way, kinda interested.

2·8 days agoThey’re just less interesting and maybe that’s good enough. The way the fediverse is architected makes it especially susceptible to bots.

Funny@sh.itjust.works•Where do you see yourself in 5 years?English
10·10 days agoIt does look close to PCBs you’d see in random key fobs but I think solid chance it’s a prop (or AI). If you look close and of course we do only see one side but a lot of the things you’d expect to see are missing. What could this do, how does it interact or connect to things, whats up with those traces and why are they going there, who made this and why is nothing labeled? None of that is definitive, but it’s weird to have that many questions like those on a real PCB.

science@lemmy.world•Climate extremes may quietly be pushing heart disease rates higher: Study. Risk of heart disease grew about 3% for every day over 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit.English
1·10 days agoFor warmer climates, they’re generally probably better off if you can ignore the cortisol/stress of climactic shifts you and this article mentioned. The theory I’ve heard thrown around is that in general the warmth acts as a natural vasodilator.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•More abstract my goals, less intense are my emotions about the result.English
2·10 days agoYou’re not on a bad track, but for me, better results are usually from doing more to define goals into actionable items instead of focusing on a non-specific end result. I’d switch gears and do something to define the ‘how’ while giving yourself a reasonable out if your goals just aren’t aligned, something like “I’m going to go talk to the local homeless shelter and see if they need any help I could provide”.

They’re not as good as the old ones by a lot, admittedly they’re frequently pretty bad but I still kind of feel like the treehouse of horror episodes tend to have at least one passable story and are usually the highlight of the season.
Season 23 episode 22: Rating 3.9: Lisa Goes Gaga: Lisa helps Lady Gaga and learns the importance of being yourself.
Season 30 episode 18: Rating 4.6: Bart vs. Itchy and Scratchy: Krusty releases an all-female reboot of Itchy and Scratchy
We can guess at why those two got the lowest ratings of the entire series.

Those ones are kinda expensive and you probably want a Sherpa for your first time.
Sure would be nice if sci-fi writers who warn us of how we’re heading towards dystopia would be wrong a bit more often.

11·16 days agoSome of it is incompetence, but some is… more complicated incompetence. A lot of the weirdness you see is where some executive somewhere had a problem that affected him and had enough money/clout to throw around that they could make whatever just happen. Microsoft is the worst at this.
