Combative rhetoric has particularly come from the close Israeli ally the UAE, whose ambassador to the US wrote a column in the Wall Street Journal this week saying a ceasefire would not be “enough” and the belligerents should push for a “conclusive outcome” that “addresses Iran’s full range of threats”.

Aww, what happened, UAE? Is your love of Israel not going well? Little hard to fund the RSF now?

The fact that they leaked the plan, makes me think they are not planning on doing that. UAE is probably the biggest destabilizing force in the Middle East and they are just putting pressure on US via Israel’s request.

I get that the Emirates are upset because of Trump, and I am not a fan of the US dollar, but by announcing a potential switch to the Chinese yuan the UAE is threatening itself I would say.

Indeed. They are dependent on the US for protection. If that just falls away, they probably won’t get protection from the Chinese. That would be quite the development indeed.
