It was a huge culture shock to me when I first moved to the Scotland and saw how many people here have just resigned themselves to the mentality “We don’t use heat in the winter” because of risen UK heating costs. Like I wouldn’t even visit people’s houses anymore it was so barbaric (they were mostly upper class people in the city as well)
Meanwhile, in my slum apartments I’ve almost always been able to find a place with some form of a storage heater. If not, I would’ve purchased an electric one. But I’ll be damned about keeping a stiff upper lip while willingly freezing lol, fuck that.
It was no coincidence that Luigi Mangione was initially charged with the death penalty. Those that reside in the halls of power saw one of their own struck down, and they wanted to make an example of him so that the herd wouldn’t get any bright ideas.
I’m not condoning instrumental violence by any means. I’m just pointing out that the Arab Spring can happen anywhere. If you maltreat a population long enough, they push back.
It’s simply a Free Market correction. Push the boundaries far enough, and someone will push back.
Its not that im unwilling to join a mass effort that requires a little sacrifice
Its what im being asked to sacrifice for, and how many children are beibg raped there.
A cold house? In this economy? If I was at the edge of choosing to heat my shitty apartment or not I would be one month away from being homeless.
Don’t go cold, can always steal firewood from the rich people’s land
Set their house on fire, and warm yourself.
Yeah but there are so few rich people.
