ubuntu is a bantu word that represents humanity’s collective nature and canonical used this trio of models as promotion materials.

i was working in the corporate world doing IT support when this and other images like it were used to promote ubuntu and our corporate overlords banned these images because the man was topless and the women were in bras and i know for a fact that we weren’t the only ones.

people care too much about how others are dressed; they need to get over themselves.

I still don’t understand why he needs to be topless though. They could still represent humanities collective nature but with him wearing a top 😄. Or out it another way, why aren’t the women topless too?

BTW Ubuntu user since Hardy so I don’t really care. Just find it funny that’s all.

the skin color of the models matched the colors of the ubuntu logo at the time; it would have been completely lost if they were fully clothed.

and yes, it is funny because the photographer did great work with these models and but it all ended up censored; so the humor ends up being people’s collective obsession with showing skin overriding the message contained in the work.
