A former fire captain in California has been sentenced following the August 2025 killing of his fiancée and her son, the El Dorado County District Attorney's Office announced. The incident took place after an argument over how a firefighter was portrayed in a movie they were watching.

    It doesn’t look like the argument was necessarily about the movie:

    McFarlin became angry at the movie’s portrayal and stormed off to his room, prompting Divodi-Lessa to follow him, the D.A.'s Friday press release states.

    This caused an argument to break out between the two, during which McFarlin strangled Divodi-Lessa.

    And the killing was supposed to protect his job:

    The press release states that Divodi-Lessa fled the room, stating she was going to file a domestic violence report.

      Empty words from a psychopath that thought murdering a woman and her kids was worth it on the vague chance of it protecting his reputation and income.
