    It doesn’t look like the argument was necessarily about the movie:

    McFarlin became angry at the movie’s portrayal and stormed off to his room, prompting Divodi-Lessa to follow him, the D.A.'s Friday press release states.

    This caused an argument to break out between the two, during which McFarlin strangled Divodi-Lessa.

    And the killing was supposed to protect his job:

    The press release states that Divodi-Lessa fled the room, stating she was going to file a domestic violence report.

    "Knowing his career would be over if the incident were reported, McFarlin retrieved a loaded firearm and followed her into the dining area,

      Yeah don’t know why the article tried to imply causation.

      McFarlin said he was “truly very sorry” for what he did

      Empty words from a psychopath that thought murdering a woman and her kids was worth it on the vague chance of it protecting his reputation and income.
