Israel claims to have been monitoring Iranian CCTV for years. Where’s the footage of these massacres?

Oh yeah. I still hear the imperial media talking about how they killed “tens of thousands of protestors”, etc., when those numbers have never been based in reality.

Fr, but that’s because they choose different numbers. If you dont fall for the israeli propaganda then the numbers dont change…

Hrana has had the same numbers, only changed estimates and when things change.

    CAITLIN JOHNSTONE

    People trust schizophreniaCX?

Nobody denies that thousands of people were killed in the January unrest; the Iranian government itself has stated that 3,117 people were killed in the violent clashes, including large numbers of security forces.

so-called “peaceful protests”, it was inevitable that people were going to be killed.

They made a classic blunder in fiction writing, as explained in a viral post that was doing the rounds on Tumblr a few months ago:

    CX to read anti-ableist

Hi what is your point exactly, it seems quite ableist but maybe you didn’t mean it that way?

People have a variety of gripes with CJ. I used to hate on her for being a tankie grifter.

But personally I feel like she’s been pretty solid for a few years. She switched from being a tankie on ukraine to being a comrade on palestine. So I’m not such a hater anymore (although still somewhat skeptical).

She convinces herself often that people in Nazi platforms are real, when often the robots have been made to say whatever the Nazi wants.

Her journalist integrity is mixed, and is invested in authoritarian propaganda. It’s not the first time she does this. Denying Genocide aint good.

People don’t need to trust anybody.

But people should stop trusting fake numbers.

(PS I used to use the “CJ gotcha” too but it’s not really worth it when she’s making a good point.)

The point she’s making is the point we always have made: propagandists lie, people die.

Irani got killed defending their speech, and the blood of the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is on his hands. Calling that inevitable is preposterous on her behalf. 3,117 people died defending their right to protest.

Killing thousands of protesters is pretty disgusting, doesnt matter if its 300, 3000 or 30,000. The only reason to debate the numbers is to muddy the water. This person seems like they put all their efforts into sweeping for authoritarian regimes as long as they’re against the US.

Yes, I agree, except I’d say 30,000 would definitely be worse than 300, ngl. But grossly inflating the number of protestors killed simply makes it easier for Trump to justify the indiscriminate bombing of Iran. It’s just too convenient. And since when did dropping bombs and wiping out critical infrastructure ever help the people living there? The Iranian regime deserves little sympathy, but the millions of people who live there do. They are suffering even more now, thanks to western “intervention”. The reason for posting this was simply to show it as a typical way in which consent for an unjust war is manufactured, similar to the WMDs of the Bush era.

It is interesting that trump claims the usa sent weapons to Iranian dissidents https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/4/6/trump-says-us-armed-iranian-dissidents-via-kurds-kurdish-groups-deny-claim

It is unclear if this is true, or just more usa blather and zone flooding. If it is though, it does cast the crack down in new light (not saying it’s good but obviously most governments start shooting foreign armed rebels pretty readily).

      The imperial numbers are fake:

Pointing out, debunking, and spreading awareness about state- and company-sponsored astroturfing on Lemmy and elsewhere. This includes social media manipulation, propaganda, and disinformation campaigns, among others.

Propaganda and disinformation are a big problem on the internet, and the Fediverse is no exception.

What’s the difference between misinformation and disinformation? The inadvertent spread of false information is misinformation. Disinformation is the intentional spread of falsehoods.

By equipping yourself with knowledge of current disinformation campaigns by state actors, corporations and their cheerleaders, you will be better able to identify, report and (hopefully) remove content matching known disinformation campaigns.
