Today’s game is some more Halo 2. I managed to nab one of my friends to join me this time and we played through almost the entire thing in one sitting. Genuinely I think the only thing left for us is the Great Journey.

It’s weird in a way in retrospect. When I first started Halo (something I detailed when I started posting these) I wasn’t very good. Granted I was playing legendary but still. Levels took upwards of 30 minutes to do. And now look at me, certain levels I can clear sub 6 minutes. It’s really fascinating to see how I’ve grown. I only wish there was a way to solidly chart my skill level.

Something I just found out for the first time today was that Sentinels? Apparently they can scoop up your tank and crush you. No idea they could do that. Usually I shoot them down before they get that far but this time I didn’t get so lucky I suppose. It’s funny to me that I’m still learning new things, and ironic I guess following my last sentence about how good I feel I’ve gotten.

One of the last things of note I wanted to leave with (I’m trying to stick too a 3 screenshot policy when it comes to Halo to try and limit myself and see what I can prioritize) was this waterfall. It caught my attention because driving past in the tank I noticed it makes noise. It’s a little thing I know. But little details like that are really what makes this game special to me. And besides, it’s been a while since I talked about game water that caught my attention.

I know Microsoft isn’t great… But Halo 1 and Halo 2 are one of the best games I played. Peek Bungie time. I miss those times so much…

The more I learn about the development of the Bungie Halo games (and the history of Bungie themselves), the more I believe Halo came to be despite Microsoft
