there is a site called “fedimap” which displays approximate physical locations for each fediverse instance. super cool if you want to connect to people irl and want to find physically close organizations :)
I think I hate this isn’t all this supposed to be more private
it’s all publicly accessible information. what did you think?
Does not seem to work on ipad with safari. It asks if I want sound or not, then a black screen, even when content blockers are disabled for the site.
ETA: if you hit skip it works fine.
Same with Safari on MacOS - hit skip.
Works like a charm on grapheneOs
I am happy for you.
Surprisingly many underwater/floating servers in the Gulf of Finland.
How does it work out the location? Is it IP geo location?
Pretty much unless you say otherwise

The default location was calculated based on the IP address. If you want to fix it, you can ask your server admin to register in the platform, validate the server’s domain through DNS, and then edit the location and other information of the server.
i’m not sure
Midwest.social is in Germany? Interesting
Hetzner VPS?
huh yeah it’s only the server IP address. maybe they’re hosted intentionally outside of the US. i can’t blame them.
