I feel like this gesture will just embolden them. It’ll go nowhere and now he’ll be able to wear it as a badge of honor for the MAGA cultists “the woke mob couldn’t get rid of me!”
It’s like when you tell a kid there will be consequences for something, and then you don’t follow through. It just makes the behavior worse, and all your other kids know you won’t follow through with them either.
To frame this from a different perspective: practice makes perfect. There’s nothing against doing this as many times as it takes. And if things stay this shitty and chaotic going into the midterms, they may well develop the political machinery needed to make it actually happen.

100% agree about them having no shame. It’s like the concept just works in reverse for these people and their followers. The more vile and unconscionable they are, the further they go.
