help-circle

  • Go make a new friend.

They may just be looking for someone to hang out with, and if they’re looking for romance, you can become the matchmaker.

I have a feeling that they’re probably too insecure to know where to start.

NGL, it’s great that they’re mustering up the courage to ask for help.

It can’t be easy in the current climate.

  • I love borzois.

When I was a teenager, a family friend had a whippet. He was the fastest thing in the neighborhood and was a bit of an asshole, in that he’d strafe other dogs and nip at them as he flew by. He wasn’t neutered so had an alpha male attitude on all the time.

We’re at a picnic area having a barbecue and in enters the acquaintance from hell, (who was a pot dealer on the side, coming by to join the festivities and make a deal with the grownups) and his two borzois - Zero and Arrow. (Zero was an absolute snuggle-bug and the chillest dog ever…)

Welp, the whippet (named Whippet) started in on the borzois and they were having none of it. They ran circles around him and actually put his nose in the dirt as they ran him down twice. The only thing Whippet had as an advantage was turning radius at speed. You never saw a dog so instantly humbled and he spent the rest of the afternoon under the picnic table.

We all got a good laugh out of it… Whippet really was an asshole…

  • I honestly think it’s delightful.

Just wait until those commandments are upon the walls of the US History classes and when the teachers get invariably, to the Civil War and teach - as Texas does - that the war was over states rights… and they read the Article of Secession that Texas wrote, the students can call that bullshit out, using the 8th commandment against “bearing false witness”. (no lying)

The issue is that the real Article of Secession that Texas wrote - not the whitewashed version they teach in their schools (that, BTW. mentions States rights ZERO times) - is hella nastier about black people, than they’re comfortable to admit. (page 5, paragraph that starts: “We hold, as undeiniable truths…”)

I think once that one hits the classrooma, a few of the more sharp kids are going to have a field day with it.

  • Auschwitz was a particular focus for whatever reason…

It was the largest and most streamlined of murder mills the NAZIs built. It also had a notorious sign “Arbeit Macht Frei” over it’s entrance gate (which was on many of the mill gates, honestly) which means “work makes you free.” A particular point of of the darkest irony considering the mills literally forced people to work with such cruelty that their only freedom from the abuse and torture was death.

NGL, it could be easier to get us back to that point and echo those horrors now, more than it’s been since the end of the Second World War… Generational amnesia - what with the liberating soldiers and victims of the camps themselves now mostly dead - being what it is.

Our great-grandparents saw and survived some hella fucked up shit.
