They’re supposed to go to work
I know the answer, but you’re not going to like it. It’s church or war.
Prison, too.
Or squat some big abonded warehouse and organize raves or punk festivals or whatever is the modern equivalent.
For some, both.

We used to go to the creepy abandoned railway tunnel.
To fucking hell
I am unsure what this person is talking about. I don’t see any pushing out of young people in public spaces?
do you live in america?
I do not
then there’s your answer, america is a desolate wasteland outside of like, 3 cities
My local mall (debatable honestly, it’s a 15+ min car ride from me, so bike and walk is unthinkable…) literally will kick out anyone under 18 who isn’t attended with someone 21 or older. I’ve seen people saying libraries are kicking out teenagers. Some local areas have put curfews in place because of shootings or fights.
I was just talking with my friends the other day about how going outside sucked because there was no-one to play with (parents and “stranger danger” = almost never let my kids outside), busy big ass roads are impossible to cross in America because some of the pedestrian lights never fucking work (so my friends all talked about having bike rides cut short or reduced to very small areas), and if you don’t have a car/a parent willing to drive you, you don’t get to do shit.
I tried making friends with local neighborhood kids but none of them ever really stuck nor did they go outside much. Small school parks are really only intended for 10 and under, larger parks for teens and adults are usually far away and at busy streets, so now you need a car to get there.
Nedless to say, I just played games by myself and online, because where else was I going to go? I did play a travel sport, but that shit is expensive and not everyone can afford to do that.
That sucks… My country isn’t as car dependent, so we still have public areas where kids and teens can roam. Best way to make sure they don’t fall off and become outcasts is to include them :)
Cars.
Kids used to play in cul-de-sac roads, ride bikes to the park or beach.
Now, it’s just too dangerous to do this in a city.
They still play those places. What has really happened is birth rates are down and so there are a lot more families without kids and so you don’t see nearly as many kids as you used to, but they’re still playing like they used to.
There’s still some but in many areas you will get the cops called on you for neglect if you let your kids go roam. The public park near me has “no unsupervised kids” signs and apply it anyone under the age of 17 (I don’t know why 17 and not 18 or 16). Kids absolutely can not go outside and play like they used to.
I also went back to visit where I grew up two years ago. The woods I used to go roam with friends is now a McDonald’s and a dollar store.
All this is anecdotal; my city’s population density has tripled since I was a kids, same area more people.
Car ownership back then was one or two cars power household, now it averages (mean) one car per bedroom per household.
So there could still be the same number of kids, but the volume of traffic is at least three times higher.
It’s going to be wildly different in different cities and different countries.
Yeah most of the kids grew up and can’t afford to move out so they just stay with their parents and get a car for themselves where I live
That and cars are far more affordable and available now (in real terms).
Riots
The same place I got told to go when I was a kid in the 80s. “Outside.” I never did figure out how to get to the void outside reality, which is a real shame since I think that’s where my soul has been stuck since I was like 7 or something.
Amok amok amok!
